hiya
my oncologist has advised that I should start the IV bisphosphonate. He did mention the side effect with regards to the dental problems which is what I’m concerned about.
ive had a couple of teeth extracted previously and I’m really worried in case I need another tooth extracted as I have a few deep fillings.
has anyone needed major dental treatment whilst on the bisphosphonates as I’m really considering not getting the IV treatment
Hi
my story on profile if you want to read .
So far I've had two bisphosphonate IV and have not had any problems . I do have several deep fillings and because of extractions wear a part denture .
As advised I had check up before start of treatment . Dentist gave all clear . I was also told that in future if I required treatment to give at least six week window either side of IV
Vit D levels are checked regularly and I Take vit D each day
Obviously I can only talk of my own experience but personally I felt protection offered by IV outweighed dental/jaw risk
hope this helps
