I need advice plz. I have my last weekly chemo on Friday. It’s not been overly successful. I have double mastectomy with reconstruction booked 5th May. Will this be classed as emergency surgery?? If I don’t have it ....then the worst could happen! I’m so worried it’s going to be cancelled. I’ve been on chemo since September and not sure what else they would do as now they have announced ‘non emergency surgery’ is now cancelled due to coronavirus
thank u x
Hi
You must be worried and hope you were able to sleep.I think you should phone your breast care nurse to set your mind at rest. I am no expert but I had my surgery brought forward due to the C virus situation last week and when I suggested I was worried the op might have been postponed if left to original date on 20th the answer was they would not cancel a cancer surgery. However things may change. Another girl on this forum who was expecting a mastectomy with immediate reconstruction this week had a call to say the mastectomy would go ahead but the reconstruction would be delayed. This was due to C virus situation.
Hope you get an answer soon.

Yip and Jojodot that was me! The reconstruction is not classed as urgent but you will get a mastectomy. Mine was yesterday and going home today, not what I was expecting but glad it’s done. As Jojodot suggested you should call your BC nurse about anything you are worried about!! x
Hi both.
I called today. Been a bad day. So yes. They are going to do one mastectomy and reconstruction delayed and second mastectomy may be delayed (3 of my cancers are in one boob). Not what I wanted to hear really. I have quite aggressive cancer (2 of the tumours) and BRCA1. So my fears will be there till I get the second one off. Plus time off for 4 ops now instead of 2. I’m on my own and only my wage coming in. Date of op will also change. I’m seeing the consultant tomorrow so will know more then. Plus had a call today from genetics then the gp regarding an infection. Tomorrow is another day. I will put my big girl pants on. Thank u both for ur help xx
Hi
Thought some emergency changes would be made and sorry you are trapped in the middle of it all. This virus is causing mayhem to so many peoples lives.
I am fortunate my chemo is now complete and surgery done although it took two attempts and now radiotherapy is next hopefully. It is only since I have been on this treatment that I truly have appreciated our NHS and the wonderful staff who work there. I am assured they all do their utmost to keep us safe. They too don’t really know what the future is. They will do their best for you I am sure so try not to worry.
So hope you get some reassurance from you consultant .
Sending you best wishes. Take care. Keep safe.

In Swansea non urgent going ahead. Friend having knee replacement today ! Guess it's assessed on aftercare need,
I’m so sorry. Mentally it’s so difficult to deal with. Please keep us updated.
I have also been told that radiotherapy May be cancelled as North Middlesex hospital is overwhelmed. I really hope this isn’t the case or they can refer me somewhere else xx
Just had it cancelled again ...... this is hard. I’m living on my own. In isolation and my spirit is getting low. Trying to stay positive ....
