Hi all feel like lm on a rollercoaster but havent even started yet,l was due to get surgery but was called in as theyve found lm Her2 positive so change of plan, lve to see oncologist and lve to start chemo first which should find out next thurs, you are all brilliant on here as l have found it really helpful and comforting to know and read all of your stories, reading what to expect and possibly feel,l read every day and check in but other than the change of plan and talking alot with hospital staff who have so nice but not pitying you, ifyou know what l mean, nothing much has changed,Was away at the hairdressers looking to make appointment to have it all shaved off but theyve talked me round just going really short at first so its not much of a shock, what are your thoughts?

Just go short. The chemo will do the rest! Chemo is doable and you will get through. It can be tough (it was for me), but some people sail through. And it really does work. It gets rid of the cancer. Her 2 is a longer journey, but has just as good an outcome now they have the drugs to treat it. Good luck. You can do this. xx
Thankyou so much,lm going to go short, spoke to kids see their feelings on the matter and they were sweet and said whatevers best for you mum but l would like to see your hair short very diplomatic maybe less shocking for them, thanks once again xx
Hi Daisy20
Thought it might help if I popped on to your thread. My story is on profile just click on name . You'll see I'm HER2pos .
slighly different route in I had masectomy before chemo . After being told would def lose hair ( didn't want cold cap ) I took decision to go to pixie cut from bob . Best thing I did ..loved it so did everyone else . Hence wig is a pixie cut . Not that I wear wig often I use beanie hats and head bands
I felt I was taking control of when I would like hair . When I started to lose it I got hairdresser to cut it shorter to keep tidy . When it stopped falling out I then had it shaved a no. 2 so it grows back in shape .....that's what worked for me but we are all different so whatever works for you is good .
The treatment for Her 2 pos for me (post menopause ) was chemo x6 which finished 5 Weeks ago then Herceptin injections til next Jan . You will see my timetable on profile .
if you have any questions feel free to ask . Also have a look at Jan chemo thread and join in on there I'm sure there will be someone on there in same place as yourself
take care
