Hi there
Not been on in a while as life is getting back to normal (ish). I've been back at work etc.
I was just wanting feedback if anyone has been in this situation. I had my chemo first, mri showed complete response. Cancer wasn't originally in my nodes but they took two to test along with the residual lump on 18/12. I've had a an infection and seroma around my lymph node wounds but it's almost better. I was due my treatment (trastuzumab and pertuzumab) next Tuesday morning then check up and results of surgery with the surgeon in the afternoon.
I had a call yesterday saying they want to delay my treatment until the following week and that I'm due to be discussed in an MDT next Friday. This was at 4:30pm and it's sent my mind into overdrive! I tried to call the BCN for advice but they finish early on Fridays. I'm still due my radiotherapy so I'm hoping it's just to discuss that and the reason they've postponed my treatment is due to my problems healing.
What do you think?
Hi Elsie77
Have you had the full results from your surgery yet ? It may be that they didn’t get a clear margin of the residual lump so may be meeting to discuss whether another op is needed to gain clear margins before you move onto your next treatment ? What a nightmare it being that late on a Friday with no one to contact - your BCN should be able to give you more information on Monday - my treatment plan changed several times but my BCN was always good at trying to help and explain why.
Best wishes
jo x
It could also be that the tumour is slightly different than they expected (different ER status, mixture of types, grade, DCIS), though don't how they'd know with a complete response though There was some DCIS not seen on ultrasound or mammogram in my results as well as a positive node also not seen. I had surgery before chemo though.
Hi
No jowoomot I haven't had my results from my lumpectomy and lymph node removal yet. That's next Tuesday. They took two lymph nodes and the lump they took was free of cancer, according to the MRI anyway. I do understand the results could be different when checked more thoroughly. I guess I'll just have to wait until Monday / Tuesday to get answers.
Londonmumof2 this is my fear that things have changed and the goal posts have moved. It's the waiting and not knowing just wish I could get the answers now.
I was so happy at having a complete response now I'm afraid again
