Hi all, wasn’t sure what to put this under but despite having a very rough time with side effects of docataxel, I had my first ever dance lesson at age 46. Now I have two left feet, no coordination and I’m stiff as a board. My daughters dance teacher decided to do a beginners class for adults after I stated that I would like to learn to dance. Therefore i had to make the effort. It was hard work but I loved every minute of it and I had fun.

  • Well done sounds like a lot of fun. Good for you. I have started knitting again. Something I haven't done for years and don't normally have time for. So I am knitting a shrug. Large needles, chunky wool and fairly easy to do when the chemo fog sets in and I can't really concentrate on any thing else!!!

Well done ladies! It’s great to try new things. I’m painting stones, writing Postcards to old folks homes (very rewarding), I’m using colouring books for the first time although I’ve got into colouring in online, and I’m still trying to carry on running. I ran 8.5k on Sunday and tonight I managed to go to my running club where I’m a jog leader. It’s getting harder and harder though. As I wear a watch that has a heart rate monitor I’ve noticed my resting heart rate go from 48 to 68 which makes running harder work as I can get quite breathless. But I’m listening to my body and I’ve got the go ahead from my consultant. So a big well done  for doing a Parkrun. These are the good things that come out of our situation. I’m going to give Pilates and yoga a go next and I’m going to start watching what I eat. I’ve put on half a stone ... yikes xx

  • Great thread ! My new passion/ obsession is simply walking. I took up Nordic walking to help with post rads breast lympheodema which is apparently a great whole body workout, and try to do this twice a week, but mainly just enjoy plain walking, with friend or alone. I regard it as my sanity saver.

I’m looking forward to hearing about the Zumba as I’ve also thought of that and think there are some classes nearby. Well done to all runners! I also like the ‘craft’ ideas, perhaps I’ll get brave and have a go at knitting. HFxx

    To all

A massive well done for looking at interests whether they are old ones or new ones. You all need to proud of yourself. I was sore this morning though and then I found out that my chemo can go ahead tomorrow but also I may need a blood transfusion.as well. Which makes me realise despite how tough I was feeling I was still able to give it a go,

In addition, I have previously raised funds for breast cancer but since chemo I feel for children having to go through the process. I donated £70 to CCLG Childtens cancer leukaemia Group. I am planning an event to raise further funds for the charity to research into kinder treatments. I have emailed Diversity and await their response before finding a venue. Fingers crossed I can pull this off.

  • My first session back to Pilates since before Xmas and it killed!  First roll down  to touch toes was hell!  Muscles protesting , head dizzy.  I’ve been walking an hour a day to increase fitness but I’m so washed out I’m going to bed !!!

Well done. I couldn’t do all that exercise at present as my aches in legs will not allow it. Im already in bed. Morphine soon and hopefully will sleep on all these steroids.

Hope you get a good night sleep.
