Hi everyone.

I had 2 lumpectomys & sentinel lymph node removed in 2017. Am I right in thinking no needles allowed on the cancer side ?

I'm supposed to go have fluid drained from a very painful knee joint, but just remember my oncologist mentioned this.

    Hi jmay

my understanding of it is it is better to avoid the side of the cancer as it puts you st risk of lymphodema , it’s a precaution really as any breaks in skin the higher risk of infection. I would say if you can have bloods etc on the other side it would be a better option.

    Take care

If you only had sentinel nodes removed there’s no issue - you’ll have plenty of others working for you.  And it’s only the arm you need to avoid anyway.  Other parts of your body are served by other groups of lymph nodes.
