Hi everyone I was diagnosed with breast cancer 1 week ago, had lots of scans done this week and told yesterday I will likely start chemo next Friday...it’s all a little daunting at the moment considering I hadn’t felt anything at all and it was all picked up during a routine mammogram, even the surgeon and oncologist confirmed they can’t really feel it, at least makes me feel less guilty for maybe missing it before.
Any advice on how to prepare for chemo? Or any other advice?
Hi @Wittie and welcome to the forum. Lots of folks will be along soon with lots of tips so you’re in the right place It seems like things are moving fast but that’s probably a good thing as we are increasingly hearing that people are having to wait longer than they should for treatments. It’s helpful if you can share some details so that you don’t get inappropriate advice. Are you in the UK? Most importantly - never, ever, feel guilty; it’s a complete waste of time xxx
Hi Wittie. I was diagnosed last week with secondary breast cancer, it's also in my lungs, lymph glands and bones. I was feeling terribly guilty because I noticed a lump months ago and ignored it. The lovely oncologist told me that it's never our fault and we have nothing to be guilty for. I'm starting on a three-drug biotherapy as mine is estrogen receptor-positive. The only thing I would say is to just take it slowly, baby steps and be gentle to yourself, we're doing the best that we can.
Hi
Sorry to see you joining us here but you have found a great place to be at a tough time.
As you may be starting chemo next week you could check out the regular monthly breast cancer chemo discussion for posting any questions about chemo, getting some tips etc
You can find the November Chemo Chat clicking here. Just don't be put off by the long list of side effects they tend to list everything but most only have a few or that would just be greedy :-/
Hope this is of some help, hugs, G n' J
Hi
welcome as already said you in the right place for support . Have a read of some profiles and fill yours in it helps when we know who we are .
Wont repeat all my story but mine could not be felt by anyone including surgeon . Only mammogram nothing on ultrasound either . No lump !
But 8 days after diagnosis had mastectomy and now on treatment plan .
This is the worst time forvyou the waiting for treatment to start . It does get better when you know what going on and it not as bad as imagined
Dreamthief is so right you will get told all the Side Effects don’t be Greedy and go looking for them all
just take one day at a time. Have a browse and come back with any questions or just a chat
