Hello,

Does anyone else suffer from this very diabilitating condition? My colon seems to be paralyzed (since 2012) and I have extremely burning acid stools that are incessant. Fortunately I have been on Questran since 2013 which cuts out the acid but leaves me with extremely loose stools but they take ages to come out. I spend over 3hours per day trying to "poo".

I'd like to make contact with others who have similar problems.

Happy New Year to all.

hi, Not exactly the same, but I am awaiting a colon resection for 11th Jan. Currently, I am eating very low fibre diet, in very small portions, throughout the day. Going to the loo is not pleasant at all. Currently constipated. Feels like it will happen, then doesnt. So bloating and gas follows all day which is not very nice! (good thing I am in self-isolation anyway)

Would just like some normality back to it all, but I think once op is complete, It will be a few months before things start to feel normal again.

Take care, hope you can get some help.

  • Your post caught my eye for a totally different reason . But wondered if you have used Pubmed search engine . I find it quite useful for the more current research articles as long as you remember to read the date !!!
Can I ask if you are aware of any acid reflux symptoms?
Hope you get a solution to it .

Hello and thanks for your interest. I have seen 4 medical professionals in the last 2 weeks, 2 digestive surgeons and 2 stomatherapists. Originally I was planning to have colostomy put back in but I have just been given an irrigation kit to try out for a couple of weeks and that might cut down my toilet use.

I've just checked out pubmed. Not quite as exciting as ClubMed but far more useful!

    Many thanks
