Hi
Apologies for being yet another one of those people with no diagnosis on here having a freak out but I am spiralling badly and didn’t know where else to turn.
I’ve been having more frequent loose stools on and off for several weeks, in between having what seems to have been either a bad reaction to medication or a gastrointestinal bug. I’ve always had a sensitive stomach which has always led me to believe I have IBS, however in recent weeks in seems to have gotten much worse, usually restricted to the morning though.
I decided to see my GP because it was starting to worry me a little and GP subsequently said I needed a qFIT test and blood tests. Cue intensified freak out and going down a colorectal/bowel cancer rabbit hole with Dr Google.
I did the stool tests and got the qFIT one back super quickly and this had led me to become even more worried. It came back with a result of 16.1ug which from the NICE guidelines is the extremely low end of positive for blood but that referral should still be considered for this. Depending on age etc which worries me more that because of my age I’ll be overlooked. I’m having the blood tests today and I think the GP is waiting for those results before coming back to me but at this point I’ve nigh on convinced myself of the worst possible scenario and that I’m one of those under 50 statistics.
I have a very young daughter and it is only adding to my fears that somehow I won’t be here for her. I feel silly posting this to a forum where people are really dealing with this but I am really really frightened at this point.
Hi historickitty13 Yes that is very low and there are several things that can cause blood in the stool like polyps, ibs, colitis, diverticulitis. Only 1 in 10 colonoscopies results in a bowel cancer diagnosis but the important thing is to get checked out?
Ive attached a link to a symptoms diary that was devised by a member of the bowel cancer uk board so you could fill this in while you’re waiting for your results then show it to your doctor.

Try not to worry about something that hasn’t been diagnosed - the anxiety will increase the dicky tummy resulting in looser bowels and then your mind will stress even more and the circle of anxiety will continue
Focus on what you know not the what ifs and don’t go googling!
Take care and let us know how you get on?
