Good afternoon! I’m very new to this cancer journey and my husband and I are hoping to get away for a week or so in between my three weekly immunotherapy treatments. Probably going to Tenerife for some much needed sunshine ️ Does anyone have a travel insurer they can recommend? Apologies if there’s a whole lot of information on the website already, I’m just finding my way around. Thanks for reading so far.

Depending on age, you might like to try Saga online for a single trip travel insurance (as opposed to multi-trip) Europe. Others coming to mind are Staysure, GoodtoGo and Freedom travel insurers. All a bit laborious but be prepared with facts and dates before you start applying and make sure you tell it all! Good luck.

Thank you. I’m 73 and husband is 70 so can try Saga and the others, thank you. It’s all a bit of a minefield!

Check with your gp you may need a fit to fly certificate for insurance and the airline

Also just something to think about. Spain and the Canary Islands can be more expensive than other European destinations for insurance. May be worth checking out some alternative destinations to give more options, if you ask the insurance companies they should be able to give you an idea of high risk vs low risk destinations. Post treatment we looked at insurance for a few places and Spain was double the price of Croatia so destination can have a big impact. Hope you get a nice break and all treatment goes well xx

I would also say insurecancer may be worth checking out if you’re still having treatment as I believe they specialise in insurance for people going through cancer treatment.
