Hello
I have been given a 1-5% change of living more than 5 years following secondary cancers being found on my ovary (tumour removed during a total hysterectomy) then now around my spleen and stomach lining. I was just wondering if anyone may have lived longer than 5 years with the same prognosis? Thanks
Thanks a lot, I’ve been unable to log in to this account until now! I realise after seeing my Consultant that I’d forgotten that she had previously said that microscopic cells were only seen around my spleen and stomach lining under a microscope so were not seen on my last scan so there was not a difference in the two scans. I asked her about my prognosis and, although my cancer is still incurable, I was stated to be on the more favourable end of the spectrum. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 and an increase in referrals, no chemo treatment has been available since my operation in July - it is finally starting on the 13th October.
Thanks @seaspirit44! I’ve only now seen your message! I wasn’t on treatment in the intervening time and decided just to get on with my chemo - I’m on Folfiri not Folfox and have had 6 sessions. A ct scan before Christmas was as clear as such scans can be (microscopic cells wouldn’t show) and I have another next week, the day before my 7th session. If this scan is positive I may be given a break from palliative chemo. Chemo dosage was reduced twice, now at 70%, due to side effects and I was given a one session break over Christmas due to my cracked skin and sickness. Bad fatigue and a lack of appetite have affected me since the last session but hopefully only one more to go . I was walking prior to my last chemo - just started short walks on the flat! Thanks Jayne
Great news alsopkj
A chemo break for spring would be such a boost and well earned given your good scans .
Thank you for the update . It encourages so many and also those out there quietly reading but not participating .
Hope you have a good day .
