Hello
I have been given a 1-5% change of living more than 5 years following secondary cancers being found on my ovary (tumour removed during a total hysterectomy) then now around my spleen and stomach lining. I was just wondering if anyone may have lived longer than 5 years with the same prognosis? Thanks
Hi alsopkj Thought this might give you some encouragement but also good to see the treatment pathways she used .
Omentum and Peritoneal lining removed surgically. Always good to get specialists in these areas involved for a second opinion. But then again that’s my opinion.
Hope Chemo goes well ,

She got a surgical consultation against the recommendation of her oncologist at the time . She was a good chemo responder so he wanted her to continue. The meeting with the surgeon was also very interesting and she decided to go down that route in the end .
The only time she was operable without chemo they wanted her to go on a clinical trial for her lung met . So again a bit more advocating .
She has a brilliant oncologist who was a trainee when she was first diagnosed. Lovely balance and very thorough .
Not too long now till you start your treatment plan .

Hi ,
Back 11 years ago she was given 6 months to 12months without treatment , with treatment around 18 months to 2 years . She never heard that herself . But we did.
A good response to chemo opened up other options . She focused on reducing the tumour load . Each year she had less tumour load to deal with and slowly she got to NED . If you lick on my user name you can read her story . Not a direct route and lots of bumps along the way but she got to a better place and slowly the language started to change in terms of her outlook . A slightly optimistic description started to emerge and then words like “ you do well with “ . Took years but the initial focus was to reduce the tumour load and see if there were other options .
Take care ,

Thanks again for sharing info. I recently had a scan prior to chemo starting and unbelievably on this scan, approx 3 months after my last one, there is no sign of any spread of cancer to my stomach lining, around my spleen or anywhere else! Whilst obviously being pleased with this news, I will be questioning how I have been put through so much anquish over the last 4 weeks by the initial prognosis from my previous scan! I also want to know if my actual prognosis fares better now. It’s back to focusing on chemo to banish any residual from the secondary on my ovary that is due to start in 2 weeks!
alsopkj, wonderful news, but I can understand your confidence being totally knocked by the disparity between the scans. We’re you having any treatment in the intervening time? If not it names you wonder if the first one was misread or was it someone else’s. Can you find out? But you probably want to get on with your treatment now and forget it, and who can blame you? Best of luck!
