I suppose it’s the first step really. A week today I have an appointment to meet my consultant. I have already learned that the biopsy taken last week has shown positive for cancer and chest x-ray shows an ominous shadow. This info from my emergency admission to a different (my nearest) hospital after an apparent bowel blockage. After an overnight stay my bowel cleared itself naturally but I got to discuss my condition with another consultant who shared some of the information before referring me back to my original consultant. So, it’s another weeks wait but thanks to Macmillan and it’s members the anxiety Is surprisingly low.
So I’ll keep active and smiling and look forward to a visit to hospital next week. I’ll treat it as a highlight of the week and look forward to plotting the way forward.
So pleased to hear your anxiety is low .
If you click on my user name you can read my mum’s story . You don’t sound as though you have a tumour burden as large as hers thankfully but it will give you some encouragement at just how effective a good treatment team and sound decisions can help navigate a diagnosis.
All the best with your appointment and onwards to starting a good treatment plan .
