Forget to mention that he had colon cancer metastasis to his liver and he had his key hole surgery 18th of March and it went very well . They took all Tumour out and they recommend him 3 months chemotherapy to be safe . Thankyou

  • Hi . How horribly frightening for you both. I’ve not heard of this before but your husband should have been given a 24 hour emergency chemo contact number and I would suggest you ring them immediately as he may be having some sort of severe allergic reaction to the chemo?

Please let us know how he gets on?

    Take care

  • Hi

To be honest I have never heard of that and I do think his oncology team would want to know about it . Do you have a contact number at the chemo centre as there is normally an on call oncologist you can access ? I would get straight onto them .
My mum’s cancer centre gave her this number to use during corona. It says to try your local team first but if not phone The national Cancer treatment helpline 0800 9177711

Or our helpline 0808 808 0000 . I think you would need guidance on what to do going forward . I would certainly phone the hospital where he gets chemo .

My mum had horrible pain in her tummy where she was rolling around the bed . We phone the hospital and they gave us guidance . You have checked out his heart but I think they would still want to know before taking any more chemo .

It must have given you both quite a fright .

  • If you are unsure about that remember to phone back . It is not the first time I have done that and have no regrets . My mum ended up in overnight a few times but it allowed the right help to get to her . We had to filter through a few people to achieve it . Your GP service is there too . You could phone the out of hours service if you get concerned . My GP ended up coming out and phoned the oncology service directly and got her taken in .

    Hi Nevdave

I see you've had some good advice already, but I would also say that you need to contact the oncology department first thing tomorrow.

I had the same surgery as your husband and I was unable to lie flat for over a year because of a pain below my ribs on the right side.  It felt that it was pulling.  I found that I needed extra pillows at night and the physio gave me wedge pillows (the memory foam ones that they use under the bottom sheet to raise feet).  These helped.

    Take care,
