Things still don’t seem to be normal, I am going to the toilet a lot more often, often it is quite urgent, I would worry if I was out, if there wasn’t a toilet near. This is not all the time, but is this the new normal, has any one else experienced the same thing. Also if I go to the toilet it smells quite bad where as it didn’t before.

    Hi hutchm

Sorry you're experiencing this it's dreadful when you need to go and don't know where the nearest toilet is or if you could get there in time.  Macmillan have a toilet card - I have one and a smaller one on my keyring (look on the website and I'm sure you can request one) and most times stores or cafes let me use their staff toilers if they don't have a public toilet or if it is being used by someone else.

BUT you really need to get this checked out.  You are entitled to ask for a second opinion and I would suggest that  you to do this if you are getting nowhere with your consultant.

    Take care

  • Hi , yes this all sounds very familiar unfortunately. Often up to 4 or 5 times per day, sometimes clustered, sometimes urgent. Carry the toilet card, or I showed my chemo card once to get a disabled toilet key. Mine started to ease up, but got totally reset only after the first colonoscopy at the diagnosis anniversary. The low fibre/low residue diet  then the moviprep preparation seemed to do the trick, and it has now settled to twice, rather than the previous normal of once. Cannot remember with regard to smell though, as I cannot really smell!! Hope this helps, or at least reassures. You are still early days with the assault on the bowel, and it will improve with time.
