Hello
I wish I'd thought to look here before!
From my diagnosis during colonoscopy in February, my colorectal surgery 3 weeks ago, and my impending chemotherapy, I still don't feel like this is really happening to me. People say that I'm being brave, but I feel a bit numb.
I have had small wobbles of tears, especially when waiting for CT results, but nothing major. I'm not usually one to hold back emotionally.
It's probably not helping that the world outside has changed considerably since my surgery, nothing is normal!
I wonder if anyone else has felt the same?
Hi Raspberry43
A big welcome to the group and online community first of all. Yes we all feel slightly different when diagnosed or after surgery for me it was very quick and surreal. It was like bang colonoscopy, bang tumor removed, bang chemotherapy started it seemed like no time to think or digest everything. Please read my profile for my story by clicking on my name. You will get responses from people in exactly the same situation/position as yourself and you will gets lots of great info and advice. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time on here and going from seeking advice and guidance to now helping others through this most difficult time. Please don't hesitate to contact me or anyone on here or just post like you have done.
Stay safe
Mark
Hello
Yes, I felt exactly the same and the feeling of numbness is completely understandable. I was diagnosed in February, open surgery in April ( tumour removed but two lymph nodes with cancer ) and I then had six months of chemotherapy. That was 8 years ago this April. I am now very well, fit and living life to the full ( I was 54 years old when diagnosed).
I wish you well and would encourage you to use this forum as you will get so much support.
Very best wishes

Thank you for your reassurance, I have spent all morning reading various posts. The support is great!
Hi, thanks for your reply.
My time scale is similar to yours; diagnosed in February, surgery in March. 2 dodgy lymph nodes, and waiting to start chemo in 4 to 6 weeks. I'm 53 years old.
So great to hear you are now well and healthy, long may it continue!
