Hello again to my internet friends. Well, times have certainly changed since my last post! Like most people, we are staying at home and are lucky to have neighbours who drop off the odd bit of food shopping.

My psa blood tests for prostate cancer are creeping down, not as quickly as I would like but Dr is happy. The bowel cancer is not forgotten and never will be, but after 6 years and 4 months since surgery I can look back and realise how lucky I was that they operated immediately. Scan at 10 am, surgery 4 hours later... Hmmm...

Best wishes to you all.

  • Hello my old friend . There is much comfort in seeing your name pop up in such uncertain times . The speed of change and the confusion it has brought has been intense .

Hope your keeping well despite all this . Mum has been in lockdown for two weeks . We encouraged her in early but is doing her best . So strange to not being able to go into her house but we are all in the same boat and doing the best we can to protect our precious members of society who just happen to be vulnerable.

    Keep in touch ,

  • Yes,we are ok. Still warm enough to garden and sort out the things which stay in boxes and follow us around whenever we move. The last move was 16 years ago and the boxes wait. And wait.

I did the ancestry thing recently and found it interesting. I knew my ancestors were Scottish on my father's side. The most interesting thing is building the family tree and finding 'cousins' who came down the lines of those who emigrated. Even one who lives in Florida!

Look after yourselves and tell your Mum that someone 12,000 miles away wishes her all the best.

  • Just a quick hello again to my Internet friends and others on this site. Wishing you all the best as the virus battle continues.

  • Lovely to hear from you , glad you are OK. We are well, staying in. I cancelled sll my follow ups, thinking that I’m more at risk from this virus than the cancers. Stay well old friend.

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!

Great to hear from you both . How are things in New Zealand just now ? I am out for a walk each day and that’s about it . Take my parents their food and wave in the back Door .
Scotland went into lockdown earlier but even lifting lockdown sounds challenging.

Hope your well Seaspirit . I am taking no chances either .

    take care ,

  • She is good thanks . Thank you for asking . She has been completely shielding in the house . She keeps busy decorating and has adapted to FaceTime nicely . So much so we have had to change her package .

I have just been popping in shopping at the backdoor however I am masking up and becoming her hairdresser this week . That’s the closest I will have been to her in a month and it will be an open air cut too as I am staying out the house .
She is putting on a brave face but I am sure some days are easier than others .

How are you passing your time ?

    take care,

  • Nice to hear from you too, or you two too! New Zealand is still in level 4 lockdown but will move to level 3 in a few days and stay there for 2 weeks unless circumstances change. I have a strange obsession with numbers, so here are the latest, announced at 1 pm on 22/4/20.

    Total cases - 1,451

    Recovered cases - 1,036

New cases - 6. The day before it was 5 new cases.

    Sadly, 14 deaths to date.

There were 5,289 tests yesterday making a total of 94,797 so far.

We're not doing much. I should be out in the garden before it gets too cold and I should be going for walks too. The beach is only a 10 minute walk, but I'm nervous about going anywhere! My wife uses a wheelchair, so it's probably best to stay in our bubble.

    Enjoy your warmer weather!

    John.

    Hi all

Good to hear from you all. I mostly lurk on here now but it is so important to hear from those doing well, it gives so much hope to those just starting their treatment. Court you deserve a medal for doing ten years here with so much patience.

  • Glad your Mum is OK , and good to hear from you . NZ seems to be doing very well in the pandemic.

We are enjoying the peace of no hospital appts! They take up so much time snd are so stressful. I’m determinedly not worrying about possible recurrences. Risk from Covid is so much greater for me. I am very sorry for those whose treatment is interrupted or postponed entirely.

I am having Skype consults for counselling, EMDR and homeopathy. Going to try Zoom meditation. Going for local walks, practising Tai Chi in the back garden with help of videos snd practice sheets frJoy the instructor. Enjoying the sun, and sadly not doing any DIY or decorating following on from the building work JoyJoyJoy

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!
