Following my visit to the GP I received a call that my FIT result was abnormal leading to 2 week referral however on ringing my local hospital, was informed the colonoscopy department was closed and they could not say when I would get an appointment? I appreciate the ongoing crisis with Covid 19 but I am sitting here now worried sick.

  • Hi

Welcome to our forum . Despite such uncertainty we are still here for you to reduce your anxiety. You would be surprised that most people who have some blood in their stool don’t have cancer . Many conditions can cause some bleeding .

Bowel cancer is very treatable and known for being slow growing.

Most people that come through here with similar circumstances as you thankfully don’t have cancer .

There is a pause right now and the plans have not been communicated yet but there has been a lot of discussion on finding other areas away from corona patients where this can be carried out . However the details are not through so I can’t offer any further reassurance on that front .

I totally understand why you are concerned. It’s difficult days for sure . I hope you hear something soon .

    Take care ,

Thank you Court for your lovely response, I feel that bit less alone in all of this.  I did contact my GP following contacting my hospital who said I would be seen as per his referral so will have to wait and see.  I am just a born worrier anyway but your kind words are very welcome.  Thank you Blush
