Morning all,

I had a conversation this morning with my Dad's specialist nurse. He had a 2nd biopsy last week under general anaesthetic, in order to get a bigger sample for the biopsy.

I've just been told that for the 2nd time the results are inconclusive?

They are 99.9% sure its cancer but until they get that .1%, they won't commit to surgery.

I'm so frustrated and a little angry right now. This has been going on for 2 months and all the while my poor Dad is no nearer to getting better.

His consultant is now on holiday for 2 weeks aswell, but my Dad wont be seen by anyone else as thats not protocol !!

In the meantime, we now have to wait until next wednesday, when the results of the biopsy should be back, now that its going to be re-tested.

What am i supposed to do now? What if the results are still inconclusive?

    Hello

My mother in law is 94 years young and she has a large bowel tumour that has been sampled twice and each time it has been benign but we were told that often these tumours may have a small malignant area or may become malignant over time so the usual protocol is to remove the tumours in most people.Given her age and the fact that she has high blood pressure she has decided with support from her surgeon to leave it alone and the risks from surgery outweigh the benefits. Bowel tumours are notoriously slow growing normally taking several years to develop so a wait for several weeks is not unusual as most people are normally told that it makes little difference to the outcome. I know that does not help when you are waiting to find out news and every day drags.
