Hi, I had a CT Scan of Thorax/ Abdomen on Feb 23. Just wondering how long it takes for results...& how you get them...ie, by letter or phone call?
Probably not the right person to answer as we currently have a recruitment problem with radiology.
Used to be an appointment was made with oncology for two weeks after the scan . They give them face to face at an appointment in my area . Now that’s up to seven weeks !!
However most area’s are not quite like that and from what I have been reading it seems more around two weeks . Some patients also report getting written confirmation or a phone call from a specialist nurse . There seems to be a variation.
If it’s too long my mum has in the past spoken to her GP who shares the same clinical portal .
Lots of regional variations.
Hope you hear soon .

Hi Marianne26
I’d guess a lot depends on where you Live. I was lucky that I had my MRI scan and CT scan on a Sunday and by the Thursday I had a phone call from a cancer nurse saying my scans had been read and were all clear.
if your anxious or concerned, then i’d suggest contacting the hospital to see if they can tell you anything. It’s what my Mum did after I had a meltdown on the Tuesday (triggered by a colonoscopy appointment arriving) after my scans and it’s probably what triggered them phoning on the Thursday after my case had been discussed by the MDT.
best of luck with the scan results
Mark
Funny enough, have just left a message with the team of colorectal nurses...before seeing your reply. It's been 11 days now.....& obviously, we all worry at these times & want to know about results.
But, many thanks.
My husband had CT on Feb 2nd he only got results on 23rd
on the 21st Feb he had MRI and on 24/2/ he had sigmoidoscopy and biopsies that surgeon marked as urgent. I emailed surgeon today as we have heard nothing she sent email back to say she has not had any results back yet, it is anxious time I know.
she did say tv she will chase them.
