Mum had colonoscopy and week later a c.t scan as they found a mass in large bowel. We were told that she will need surgery to remove mass. The nurse gave us a Macmillan card, even though she hadn't yet been diagnosed. I am so scared for results tomorrow. Me and mum are so close. Even though she is with dad, me and mum do everything together. Can anyone give me advice please??
Hi
I see you haven’t yet had a reply to your post. I’m currently in New Zealand, so on a different time zone, and thought I’d reply to say good luck for your mum’s results.
if your mum does indeed have cancer, she will be put in a rapid treatment plan. The doctors, colorectal nurses, radiographers etc will all get together in a meeting to map out the treatment. It’s scary, but usually treatable.
There’s lots of support here. I’m sure others will be along soon to answer any questions that you have after the diagnosis.
All the best

Hi ,
Big welcome from me too . I think we all relate to the waves of fear that come over us before these meetings . It’s horrible. However it’s also the solution to keep your mum healthy and allow you both to continue enjoying your lovely relationship. As stated above when caught early it’s well treated and hopefully your mum will have a plan in place soon to move this process forward .
My mum was a late stage diagnosis but she is still here doing well and keeping me busy .
Hope it all goes well today and takes away some of your fears .
Take care ,

I too have a mum that is facing scan results on Wednesday. She's had bowel cancer removed but it's gone to the liver, and because of various delays and operations, we know the liver was a bit worse in December but we will get an up to date picture this week....and I know she is dreading it! What if it's gone further? Mum isn't suitable for chemo as she is dpd deficient......I'm so worried. How am I going to get mum through this! She is a candidate for liver operation...but that was back last September.
Thank you for replies. Mum has colon cancer and also in her lung. She has to have a pet ct scan next week to see if cancer in colon has spread to lung or if it's a different cancer. So won't get treatment plan til after scan results
Hi,
Sorry to hear that . It’s very difficult to hear the disease has spread to an other organ . My mum had a lung met removed four years ago and recovered well from it . It was very stressful at the time .
They will hopefully pull all the information together very soon and get your mum a good plan .
It will have been an exhausting day for you both . This is not a situation without hope .
Take care ,
