Hello one and all.

I'm still here! I've been absent a couple of months, but in that time I have upped and moved house to a much nicer, larger place. My health is much as it was - rotten, but stable. I'm being put through the universal credit wringer again, only six months after the LAST time, and could well do without it. But my GP is hugely helpful, and Macmillan have, as always, been amazing with their support.

I'll try to check in more often now. :D

  • Thanks Karen!

My tip: do not move into a Victorian house with many original features still intact. I had to have the gas cut off for several days to fix problems with the ancient supply and pipes (and it was literally freezing weather... no heat or hot water...), all the cables inside and out needed replacing due to age (not Victorian, but still VERY old), and it has the original cast iron roof gutters. Which are clogged so badly the rain from the storms has been flooding into my bedroom. All this, and I have been here only three weeks! My landlord is being good about it, but it is a LOT to deal with.

On the plus side, original open log fires, tiled floors, and so forth... That was worth the move hassle!

Hi Robin, nice to hear from you again, hope you soon settle in to your new enviroment, i like the sound of the open log fires, wishing you all the best, cheers  john.

  • Since moving, the perpetual hacking cough I have had for ages has vanished - I was coughing so hard I was bringing up some blood a week or so before the move, but I am assured by doctors this is NOT cancer related. Just from coughing incredibly hard. And that cough vanished a day after I got into my new home, away from damp and dust.

On top of that, I looked carefully today, and can say finally that I do have hair growing back in, finally, where it was lost last year during chemo tomfoolery. It's slight, it's fuzzy - but it is there!

    Progress indeed!

    Thank you John. Slight smile

    Robin.

    1. Hi Robin, glad that the hair is coming back after the tomfoolery of chemo, and I would say your new habitat is a lot more to your liking, and you are progressing well, all the best, cheers John.
  • Hello again!

I have heard back from the DWP. To my utter surprise - and relief - they have accepted the "recovering from chemotherapy" defence again, despite it being a year since I stopped treatment. They have awarded me the universal credit I need to survive, without a fight.

I cannot begin to express my relief! I can now afford the furniture I desperately need for my new home. It will be a wardrobe extravaganza!

So long as I get help to assemble them...
