My wife recently had her chemo level upped from 80% to 100% . Before then she was coping very well but recently she has suffered an almost complete lack of appetite and is exhausted. We are seeing her oncologist in a few days and are thinking about asking to go back to 80% as she has very poor quality of life now.
Has anyone else found such difficulties and any ideas for solutions?
Hi ,
It is amazing how the extra 20% changes things . My mum had bad side effects and they dropped it 20% and it suddenly became much more tolerable. She had it the year before and it was at full strength and was tough . Seeing the quality of life she had at a slight reduction changed our approach . The interesting aspect she had stage 4 cancer and the chemo worked on her tumours just as well at a lower dose as it did at the higher dose . Maybe not for everyone but it was just as good for her .
I would definitely chat with her team . This is the sort of feedback they want to know to find the right balance for her . If we had only know we would have spoken up the first year .
You might also like to speak to our helpline staff 0808 808 0000 . They would be more than happy to chat to you .
take care ,
