hi I have bowel cancer and went for my pre surgery scans two weeks ago and got a call Friday saying they need to do more scans as they saw spots in my liver. Has anybody come across this. Is it possibly secondary cancer? They are setting up schedule for the scan as we speak. I am just curious if anyone has come across this before.
thanks

Hi . Yes I had exactly that! I had a CT scan initially then had to go for an MRI to check what these spots were. They are called hemangiomas and the nurse told me that lots of people have them and are non the wiser unless they have these sort of tests. She told me that they were nothing to worry about so hopefully yours will be just that too.
Take care

I had to go for several MRI/CT scans for liver & lungs; nothing worrying found. The surgeon who treated me has coined a suitable acronym for it:
Victim

My wife, a GP, agreed that the number of people "needing" further tests is rising substantially. Personally I never mind going for any of them, better to be safe ... etc

My partner had to have an mri scan before his op to removed a tumor in vowel because there was something showing on liver.
After scan they said it was fine. he had his op and 6 lots of chemo they said as a precaution. But 6 months later after a ct scan they have now told us they think he has secondary cancer on liver. What was there before has grown. Now have to have pet scan.
devastating, we pray they are nothing.
