Tomorrow I will have been two weeks since the end of the chemotherapy and the radiotherapy. The oncologist said that i would feel much better after the first week.
I guess everyone is different, but I do not feel much better, I am getting in some walking about 4km per day, moderate exercises with light weights, i am eating well, however the pain in my bottom is still as bad, the diarrhoea has reduced substantially from 40 on average per day to softish stools averaging 12 per day. Every waking moment brings pain in my anus area.
Sleep no longer evades me, however i take strong painkillers 3 times a day and a sleeping tablet at night.
Is what i am going through normal ?
What have other peoples experiences been.
I get to see the sugeon on monday for my first meeting after the chemo/radio therapy.
Hi . Although you’ve finished active treatment the radiotherapy will still be working and that’s why there is a delay between ending treatment and being scanned. I know it maybe doesn’t feel like it, but from reading your post, it does sound like things are improving slowly and walking 4k a day is brilliant. Everyone has different experiences from their treatment so there is no ‘normal’ - Take the painkillers when you need them and I’m sure the surgeon will be able to reassure you that everything is ok. I think process hubby struggled after radiotherapy so hopefully she will be able to offer some advice
Take care

Hi I worked throughout treatment with no side affects then about two weeks after that I was so tried and aching all over and a real sore bum like a red hot poke was pushed up there this lasted about 3 weeks I still worked but it was tough it does get better thoug cheers Andy
Hi Goslow, and thanks Karen for link,
yes Karen is right my hubby was doing ok, just had fatigue then seemed ok ish then he started to ache all over his pelvis area getting really hot, he was complaining of lots of strange little things we rang helpline and was told to get urgent Appointment same day at GP, but to be honest they didn’t help and then I asked a question to The radiotherapist on here.
she basically said that she thought he had overdone the exercise and his body was complaining, he slept and slept and then got better she said the body has gone through the same as major surgery and you have to look after yourself and allow body to heal, but because you can’t see wounds you tend not too and expect to be doing more. So maybe rest more keep drinking lots of water and seek advice if you feel like it, he also took painkillers. By end of three weeks he got better a little each day.
i wish you well and hope you get better real soon x
