Hi
Pre. my Left Hemicolectomy in May this year, my Blood CEA markers were 8. I have just received my first blood test results (6mths. after Op.) & the results are 7.
I found it a bit alarming...however, as a smoker, I am aware that results would be raised somewhat.
I spoke to my Colectoral nurse earlier, who wasn't a bit bothered about the results. Apparently, the blood test is never a determinant, unless other stuff is going on. So, I'm slightly reassured.....but obviously poured another glass of wine.
Hope you enjoyed your glass of wine .
My mum’s popped up last year for six months . She was scanned twice and nothing showed up . After six months it came back down and continued to scan well . Now after ten years something else is influencing herCEA so not so reliable for her now .
Have a good time ,
