Hi all you lovely people just thought I would update you......little recap first for any newbies.
Hubby diagnosed in March via screening, no symptoms at all, he was fit and active, told Rectal cancer, T3N1M0 no clear margin so five weeks chemo radiotherapy. Hubby started to get chest pains, these continued for several days, when we told oncologist she stopped chemo (Capecitabine) that was 12 days in. We had been told at start possible rare side effect of chemo.
Radiotherapy finished in June.....hubby unwell for a few weeks, and very fatigued. In August he had MRI CT and sigmoidoscopy and biopsies.....told he had possible complete response we were very pleased obviously.........awaited confirmation.
In Sept we got curve ball when concerns raised about lymph glands being double in size in chest, so needed to see lung consultant and EBUS done with biopsies, in October got the news not cancer but sarcoid like reaction....put on watch wait for bowel, it was a comple response. Repeat MRI and sigmoidoscopy with Biopsies end of November.
Yesterday I emailed surgeon as we hadn't heard anything bless her she emailed back last night at 8pm and said she just logged on electronically as she had not had anything in the office, she said all reports are fine and so great news!!!! She said she will see him again in Feb.....as he is on 3 month surveillance..............so what a lovely way to start Christmas.....yeah!!!
Good luck for those of you also waiting for results.......
I hope my post gives hope to those currently on chemo/radiotherapy treatment, or any treatment.
Love to all you lovely forumites xxxx
That is great news. I had my radiotherapy beginning of November and I cant wait for my scans which is scheduled for mid January and surgery end of January. I hope and pray that they can get the whole tumor and the lymph nodes that were affected out. My bowel cancer is T3N2M0.
Good luck to your hubby and enjoy your Christmas.
