Hi all - apologies for the following question and possible too much information.
i have had 2 different primary cancers (nhl fillicular lymphoma & breast) in the last 4 years, both are in remission. I’ve had a couple of scares which have turned out be nothing to worry about.
i don’t want to go to the doctors really in fear of over reacting.
the symptoms I have, have been getting worse since the beginning of the year but certainly have got worse since April. I have always had loud farts but they have become far worse eg from once in a blue moon to daily (actually multiple times an hour). Bowel movements have definitely changed, I used to be a once a day, regular as clockwork to not going for days followed by a day of going 4 or 5 times (one large one followed by rabbit droppings) but I never feel empty. I also have notice a large amount of mucus (some times wrapped around poo but sometimes as wet farts). I do bleed occasionally but I have an anal fissure.
I am always tied but I am in the menopause. I am losing weight but that is intentional via slimming world. I generally eat a good diet.
apologies again for content but is this something I should talk to my doctor about?
best wishes Sarah
Hi Sarah and welcome to the Bowel Cancer Board. Please don’t apologise or worry about anything ‘poo’ related - there is nothing too embarrassing to ask about on here! My advice to you would be If in doubt, get it checked out. Please don’t think that by this I think that you have Bowel Cancer - there are lots of things that can cause a change in Bowel habit and, as you say, the bleeding may be caused by the anal fissure however there is obviously a niggling worry at the back of your mind so it’s best to get it checked out by your doctor.
Take care and let us know how you get on
Karen x
Thank you Karen, my issue is mainly not wasting the doctors time but have booked an appointment for today as you’re right it’s really niggling me. I am hyper sensitive due to having two previous cancer diagnoses and having a close friend who died from this awful disease (he ignored the symptoms). I’ll let you know how I go.
take care Sarah
