hi the 12th of November was my last session of radiotherapy. Immediately after the side effects started kicking in. Diarrhea, no appetite and dehydration. My question is did anybody have radiotherapy done that needed a stoma before hand or that didn’t have the stoma put in place before treatment started. I was told I didn’t need one put in but am suffering so much now as I am in the loo all night and all day. The pain in my bum is very uncomfortable and I can’t function. HELP
Hi Ana,
all very normal after radiotherapy ! It’s a nightmare to begin with but settles down super quick by a couple of weeks or so after .. it’s just still working .. so that’s good.. did you have a stoma ? Honestly stick with it and it will improve massively ..are you using all the creams and potions ? Thinking of you xxxxxAnnie
They didn’t put a stoma as they said the tumor wasn’t blocking me up 100% but now I am having difficulty going and releasing. I thought I’d have diarrhea and or constipation. But why when I go to the loo nothing comes out . I want to push and bear down but nothing happens but a sore ass
Hi Ana I had 5 weeks of radiotherapy without a Stoma.
I found my side effects kicked in heavily in week 5. I had pain going to the toilet like no pain I've ever experienced before - I used to have to bite on a towel and would have to lie on the bed for ten mins after grunting in agony. I was ok when not going to the toilet - managed it with a mixture of pain killers and steroid cream I applied to my bum.
It settled down around 2 weeks after the end of my radiotherapy.
Hope this helps, Rich
Thanks Rich. I’m glad you messaged. I was thinking to myself I’m giving up but I never do that. I am a fighter but the pain is really getting to me.
So I guess fight it is til the end.
Hi same as above I’m nearly four weeks past radiochemo and everything ok now even the furnace ass is nearly gone hang in there it does get easier
all the best Andy
Yes keep fighting!!! Have you had Imodium? If you go to the toilet less that should help?
if you finished on the 12th I’d guess you’re through the worst it should ease considerably in the next week
Good luck with it!
