Hi everyone!
Well, I am still around, despite a couple of months silence. I've been struggling a fair bit. I've been having ever increasing fatigue, worse than any I have ever known, and as I have had chronic fatigue since my mid-teens, I know whereof I speak. Add into that growing systemic pain, increasing attacks of stomach upsets that are spookily similar to my symptoms this time last year, and I have been getting pretty worried. I have had tests done, and the fatigue could be down to folate-relate anemia.
This is an example of how life likes to play annoying games. My folate levels are very low, but the reason for this is that most of the folate-rich foods I used to eat, such as pulses, green veg, fresh fruit, and so forth... well, they all make my insides try to turn inside out still, as my guts are still healing up. So, I have been advised to avoid them. And am now being advised to eat more folate rich foods. So, I am damned if I do, and damned if I don't. I'll look into supplements, but they are never as effective as actual proper food. What fun!
I'm seeing the surgical team for my one year follow up at the start of December. I shall see what they have to say.
Additionally, my weight has ballooned rapidly. It may be my hypothyroidism is getting worse, or it could be any number of things. Again, this is under investigation. But I am not imagining things, and I am definitely feeling worse now compared to six months ago, which is definitely not reassuring.
Also, I lied. There is nothing in here about bears. Sorry!
Robin.
stoatlord. Omg I was only thinking about you yesterday and up you pop! Sorry to hear that you’re feeling pretty rubbishy - its hard to know where to start when there’s a few things bothering you. Hope the meeting with the surgical team goes well and then you can hopefully tackle some of the other issues.
Good to hear from you again and take care

Thank you both!
I've been a bit out of touch with a lot of people recently, what with all the fatigue issues. I shall try to be better at that from now on.
I'm lucky I have such good support here. There's a local cancer charity that has been giving me counselling, group sessions, massage, and all sorts of things that truly have helped make coping that much easier. I think the approaching one year anniversary of my surgery is making me realise I do not feel anything like as well as I had hoped, even if it is a lot better than before the tumour was removed. It's been a hell of a year, and taking stock is weighing me down somewhat.
I'll try to ensure there are bears next time I pop in. I do hate to disappoint people!
Robin.
Hi Court. Yes I think an update thread would be a really good idea. Somebody had posted about having a bad reaction to chemo and that had made me think of Robin. It would also be good to hear how everyone is doing at their various stages of treatment especially for some of the newer members
Take care

ps and I don’t mind you calling me Funny Karen

Just received a letter from the cancer team at the hospital. They're giving me a CT scan and another blood screening as soon as they can fit me in, so hopefully I'll get some answers soon!
