I had a colonoscopy earlier this week, after spending a good number of months back and forth from the GP with various symptoms.
They found a 3.5cm polyp which will have to be removed. The consultant seemed pretty sure it isn’t cancerous, but I suppose until they take it out and test nothing is sure.
He took some biopsies and when I called today to ask how long I might have to wait for the results I was told 6-8 weeks (after which another appointment will be scheduled). It feels like a really long time, is it normal to wait that long?
Hi Scottstreet
I had 4 biopsies taken during a colonoscopy yesterday, 3 were polyps and one from ulcers they found.
can I ask how long you had to wait?
i was told I should have them in 1-2 weeks.
In the end my results came through in about 3 weeks.
wishing you the best for your results!
