Hi,
I would like to try and start a Manchester / Cheshire group so that people can meet on an ad-hoc basis in a relaxed atmosphere.
Throughout my treatment the one thing that has been lacking is that personal contact with other people who were going through the same thing or who had finished treatment. I would have loved to have met someone who could have been my ‘Bowel buddy’.
The online forums are great but nothing can replace the personal experience of chatting face to face.
I have just finished my treatment now so I have the time and energy to try and get this going. I would love to offer support for all new patients and also for those like me who just feel a bit lost now that treatment has ended.
Please get in touch with me if you feel the same and would like to meet up.
Thanks,
Sarah.
Hi Sarah
Just thought I'd mention there is a colorectal cancer support group that meets bi monthly at the Maggies support centre just across the way from the Christie hospital in Withington, just in case you were interested. The next meeting is this Thursday 21st November 2pm-4pm. Quite a good turn out last time- it meets bi-monthly .
cheers
Sean
Hi Sean,
Thanks for your message. Yes I did know about the bi-monthly meetings at Maggie’s. Unfortunately I can’t make the meeting on 21st as I’m at Penny Brohn.
What I would like to establish is a network of people who can meet on a more ad-hoc basis, either for coffee & a chat or as a larger group for an event such as a walk.
Whilst I am sure the bi-monthly meetings are good, but the problem is that if you miss one then that’s it for another 2 months.
Cheers
Sarah
Hi Sarah
Im across the Pennines so not really able to join you but I just wanted to say what a great idea I think this is and I hope there are lots of people able to join up and support each other.
Good on you for organising something like this
Take care

Hi there
so sorry, have only just seen your messages. I had to leave just before 4pm.
Maybe catch you next time or we will have a Manchester meet before then

Sean
