Hello

I was diagnosed with colon cancer in April of this year having initially having appendicitis this time last year, and it all went from there. I was treated with antibiotics and was ok at first, but come February/March this year I was diagnosed. Had a tumour removed and was doing ok until ct scans found abnormalities, and bang, it was back. That was a month or so ago and now its found it's way to my rectum. I'm having hipec surgery at Christie's next week so overall I'm lucky that something can be done. I would be lieing if I said I little bit of me thinks it might be best if I don't wake up from the operation and just drift off. It's been a hideous year. But that's just a very small part of my thinking. I'm staying strong & positive and hopeful of getting better and getting back to normal. I'm back in work etc and have been for a number of months and doing ok. Was disappointed it came back, gutted in fact, but I'll get there!

  • Hi

Oh I am so sorry to hear it’s come back . It’s rotten news to hear . However it sounds as though your team has moved quickly and being operable is a big plus in this situation .

You are in the hands of the top specialist in this area of care . Having experienced specialist centres of excellence with my mum they only operate with curative intent so that’s a big motivation in itself . Returning you to NED and back on with your life .

I hope they take really good care of you and clear this out your system for good . You have everything to gain .

Let us know how you get on . I read somewhere that there can be more than one step to NED for some people . That has certainly been my mum’s experience but living a good life just the same .

Before each surgery she talks about finding her focus then it’s best foot forward !

    Take special care ,

    Court
