Hello everyone I am almost 10 weeks after bowel cancer surgery and healing and recovering well. Unfortunately I am getting bouts of constipation where my stomach makes all types of gurgling and rumbling noises and stomach cramps are really painful. I have had around 6 episodes of this ranging from lasting a few hrs to 2 days. My stomach is all bloated and the cramps are unbearable at times. Any recommendations to ease these episodes or if there normal now I've had part of my lower bowel removed as part of my surgery.
Regards Mark
Hi. Hi Mark. Glad to hear that you’re recovering well. I suffer from the opposite however my friend suffers from constipation and swears by a glass of prune juice in a morning?
Let us know how you get on
Take care

Hi Kareno62
Thanks for the response I'm more than happy to give anything a go. Lastnite I was up nearly all night due to the pain and they seem to be getting longer each time. Hope you're doing well and I truly appreciate all the responses from you and taking time out to respond.
Regards Mark
Dear Mark
Where are you from? I was born in Wolves but have lived in Liverpool for over 40 years. I had bouts of constipation and was advised by my wife, a Dr, to take lactulose, worked for me.
I hope all goes well. Don't expect your body to return to how was it was before - My modified bowel considers 3.00am the optimum time to activate! A small price to pay. If by any chance you're a Wolves fan can I send a big thanks for yesterday from all LFC fans.
Recovery eas for me quick, back at Anfield a month to the day of surgery and have attended two European cup finals since. Yep I wish it hadn't happened and it's not always a smooth road but it's been much easier than I ever expected.

I'm from Sedgley so next door to wolves and happy to say I'm a baggies fan. I'm more than happy to give lactulose a go aswell as the prunes
Yeh I've already had the latenite/early morning bowel movements I don't think I will be regular ever again but small price to pay for good health. Bring on the chemo this week.
Ta Mark
Returned to Wolves for one year & taught at Parkfields - know Sedgley well, especially 'The Cabin' on the Northway.
Good luck with chemo. Still embarrassed by our celebrating a 2-2 draw against WBA
