Hello

I got diagnosed with bowel cancer in dec 18 at 38 years old with a young family. After years of being told I had IBS and also had my healthy appendix removed that's another story.

I had surgery and 6 months of chemo had 2 CT scans one was clear but my most recent one I just got delivered the news that they can see something on my liver so now I'm awaiting a MRI I am so scared!

Has anyone had it spread to the liver?

Has anyone been in this situation I'm absolutely gutted!

Would love to hear from you

Danielle

  • Hi , sorry you have this worry. I will tag whose mum has survived 10 years with several liver mets. Good luck.

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!

  • Hi Danielle,

I think it’s very scary to be told that but I can’t tell you the number of people who come through here and they turn out to have a benign area on the liver that is of no concern . They are taking good care of you by being thorough.

If it was something Bowel cancer is very fortunate to have lots of treatment options for the liver  from surgery , radio frequency Ablation through to chemo . My own mum had an extensive spread at diagnosis. Chemo did a wonderful job and she had surgery . Her liver has remained clear for the last eight years . She continues to do well . They did not even bother sending her for an MRI as it was so extensive and yet  her liver has been fine .

But it is another test and something else to endure . So I can totally understand how frustrating and frightening it must be to go through it .

Others will be along soon to reassure you .

    take care ,
