I am vaguely thinking of a short break abroad, following Bowel cancer resection last May, which according to the oncologist didn't warrant any adjuvant chemotherapy.
I am thinking that insurance companies might charge very high policies following a cancer diagnosis?
Just wondering if any one can advise/ recommend reasonable Insurance companies?
Thanks a lot!
Hi Marianne
Even vaguely thinking about taking a holiday short break sounds like a good idea.
You might be interested to know that we have a very lively Travel insurance forum for cancer patients group where the members have compiled a list of insurance companies they've received reasonable quotes and you can find the information here Members recommended insurance companies
Just click on the green text above and when the thread opens up it's just a matter of scrolling through the posts to see the members comments. When you find a company that looks good to you it is best to phone the company direct and speak to a real person rather answering questions on line.
My friend latchbrook looks after the group and will be along shortly to give you some more help, she has a list of questions that you could be asked.
It would beneficial to ask your oncologist for a letter stating you fit to travel and ask him to note it on your medical notes.
I hope that vague thoughts turn into a reality and you do manage to get away on a short break and have an enjoyable time.

Dear Marianne
Great that you're thinking of going on holiday, my advice is go for it. My wife & me regarded my diagnosis & subsequent surgery as a 'wake up call' to go to those places we've always wanted to see and have travelled far & wide in the time since Jan'18, inc. Asia & Antarctica, as well as following Liverpool around Europe. We trawled the insurers & decided on Holidaysafe, there are many other good options. It helps that my wife is a Dr when it comes to the medical questions - she listed everything that we'd had treated as she's seen too many patients have their insurance invalidated by failure to disclose. The total for a 12 month worldwide policy was far less than I imagined, covering cruises was FAR more expensive than my cancer.
Get a decent policy that suits you and go for it.
Enjoy.
