hello.
Unfortunately my boyfriend was taken to hospital Wednesday night. He was fine all day, went to bed and gradually started getting pain in the abdomen feeling like he kept needing the toilet. As the night went on the pains got worse and worse and we ended up in a&e. They did the usual thing and gave antibiotics on arrival as he’s Neutropaenic, meaning that complications from his treatment could be life threatening. Anyway X-ray showed a obstruction in the bowel. Oh no, not a tumour again, I thought, thankfully not, they said it could have been caused by various things, possibly scar tissue and adhesions from previous bowel surgery. Anyway had bowel decompressed and started exploding on the toilet quite quickly. Came home from hospital today and is on a soft diet for a few days and got to take metvocol for the time being as they think there is still a bit of a blockage higher up that still needs to find it’s way out. The good news is though that they had to also do a ct scan and it showed that the mets on the liver have shrunk. Yay. And only after 3 doses. Got 4th dose of chemo next week, then that’s the first lot completed ready to see what the oncologist has planned next.
Have a good weekend everyone x

Hi Lena ,
A horrible way to find out but I am so delighted to hear it’s working after just three rounds . He is super responsive!!! Yippee .
Now I am very sorry he has had a rough time . Hope it all resolved quickly and at least he can continue treatment with the reassurance it is working .
It gives you such a fright though !!!
Take care ,

That does sound like an unpleasant way to spend time, but the news about the progress being made on the metastases and so forth... THAT definitely sounds positive. I am sorry he has to experience the unfortunate internal doom right now, but I truly hope he continues to make good progress towards finally kicking the rotten cancer right out!
Robin.
Hi Yolande.
Thank you for your message. Yes I’ve never seen someone in so much pain. It’s frustrating that we don’t really know what caused it, and not sure how long he has to stick to a soft diet for. We aren’t meeting his consultant till end of September which is frustrating as we would like some answers.
It is brilliant news about the mets shrinking, we are so pleased. Onwards and up awards hopefully.
Hope you are ok.
