My husband has just had his 2nd immunotherapy and chemotherapy session but this time he has seen a big dip in energy levels and all he wants to do is sleep- is this normal? Has anyone else experienced the same, should we be concerned, is it likely to pass and does anyone have any tips that will help combat this?
Yes perfectly normal I am afraid . My mum slept a lot in the afternoons . She just did as her body required . Every time I looked at her she seemed to be dozing . It was purely chemo . As soon as she stopped it went away .
The second year she had a slight dose reduction and was not so tired .
My friend is having Immuotherapy with a chemotherapy just now and is also tired but does seem to be handling it better the further into it she goes . It’s the steroids she would like to drop .
Its good to hear from you . Hope your both doing ok in the midst of all this .
One thing my mum was really really bad at was staying hydrated. The more she drank the better she felt but hated drinking water . It was a real battle at times .
take care,

Hi
As Court has said normal and hard to describe to someone as you just feel SO tired. You just don't want to do anything. I used to struggle to stand up long enough to have a shower by the end so I got a sit down seat (I was 54 years old!). You also find it often affects your brain as well (chemobrain) you forget words, forget what people have told you so you ask the same daft questions over again and sometimes trail off in the middle of a sentence. It gets a bit better towards the end of each round but then comes back again, each time a bit worse I found, but others have not been so bad. The only tips I would give is to give in to it when you need to, reduce your workload and try to take a bit of exercise every day even if it is just a walk to the end of the road or round the garden. I took a nap every afternoon.
