Have just joined . . .
Had APR surgery May 20, 2019 . . .
Will read posts and learn how to cope with recovery and try best if I can be of help as well.
Hi everyone!
Hi EVoMJ, and welcome!
I'm sure you must be well on the road to recovery now - a lot happens over 2 months following surgery! I'm almost 7 years post APR surgery and still doing well. If you have any questions, just ask - there's always someone around to answer. I might not be of much help as I'm sure that the treatments have moved on since I had my surgery. But I might be able to help on the practical stuff!
Linda :-)
Hi
Welcome to the online community. I'm pleased to hear that you are doing well and learning to cope with recovery. Reading past threads can be of great help to get a feel of how others managed the recovery process but remember we are all different and you might find it easier to come on here and ask questions which can be on anything at all and I mean anything I am sure that between us we will have the answer and likewise feel free to join in any discussion as your point of view will be very welcome indeed
I would like to ask you a favour would you mind going back into your homepage, click on your username above and look for edit my profile and click on it this will take you to the space where you can tell more about yourself and the journey that brought you to us, it doesn't have to be War and Peace it can be as much or as a little as you want to tell us, it really does help others to respond to you.
Look forward to seeing you again soon.
Regards
Ian
Hi Linda!
Thank you. I learned a lot just from reading the past threads and help me understand more what's happening with my recovery.
I'm glad you're doing well years post surgery and hope you continue to do great.
EVoMJ here!
Hey Ewok!
Yes I will be glad to tell more next time. For now I am happy to have joined here because I have learned so much and make things easier for me while recuperating from surgery. I am doing alright based on what I read on the past threads after getting worried how slow I was getting progress with my recovery.
Thank you again.
EVoMJ here!
Thanks Bodach!
I will certainly do that.
You're exactly right, this online community have taught me so much just by reading the past threads.
Until next time . . .
EVoMJ here!
Great to hear from you EVoMJ and that you’ve found some useful threads. Take care for now.
Hi! I'm also a new member. I was diagnosed early May this year, (after a year of vague symptoms.) & my Op. was 16th May. Mine was a left Hemicolectomy. After my diagnosis....suddenly everything went bananas.....& I still can't quite come to terms with the speed of it all....but of course, it's necessary. Right now....I'm eating everything I did before the Op...including the wine! I Ilive alone...so it was nice that a friend shopped for me in the first week. Thereafter, I walked to the supermarket & bought little bags of food. Now I feel much the same before the Op.I walk where I want, I do all my shopping, housework. What do you need to know?
Welcome!
This is the right place to be, there are so many kind and knowledgable people here. One thing Marianne mentions is about how fast it all happens, and how there seems little time to come to terms with it all. I found that I didnt really do that until I was fairly well recovered post-surgery. I think I had more questions afterwards than before.
I hope you're recovering well!
Robin.
Hi Robin
You are so right! It's like suddenly being on top of a roller coaster....someone pushes you, then you are shot off into the unknown....then before you know it you are suddenly standing on firm ground, looking about in a dazed state...thinking what the hell just happened to me?! Well, that's certainly my experience of it all....surreal & traumatic! I initially enquired about counselling - but the waiting list is lengthy. I found the physical recovery quite speedy, but the emotional toll greater. However, after two months, it's getting easier day by day & I am slowly beginning to feel more positive.
Best wishes
Marianne
