Hi Guys,
I'm new to the community.........46 year old female, had emergency surgery on 8th May 2019 for bowel blockage and perforation. Now been diagnosed with bowel cancer T4, N2, M0 and vascular invasion present. Have a temporary stoma.
It's been recommended that I have 6 months chemotherapy but the 'added benefit; was only said to be 25% with there still being a very large chance that it may come back.
I understand that there are some new drugs that have come on line that are available on the NHS that you can take instead of chemo, has anyone gone down this route or know more about it? Struggling to know what to do going forward
xx
Hi ,
Welcome to the forum . Glad you join in .
Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I was wondering if you have been offered a clinical trial ? Most of the drugs available on the NHS are chemo based with other agents added . I was wondering if you are referring to Immuotherapy which is not a chemotherapy and getting some very good results with patients who have MSI and even some patients with MSS who have a high tumour mutation burden but are not readily available on the NHS as far as I know but some clinical trials are around .
You might like to chat through your options and concerns with our helpline staff . They would be happy to assist in any way .
Take care ,
Court
