Hi,
I have just rang my specialist nurse up to see when my appointment is with doctor to see if my rectum cancer has spread. She said the results were good and 3 Nodes were found in my lungs but could of always been there. I am due to start 5 weeks of chemotherapy and radiotherapy to shrink the tumour before operation tumour is 60mm big. But forgot to ask if it will be every day I have to go in or if the treatment is weekly. Will not be seeing doctor for 2 weeks.
Thankyou
Alison.
Hi Alison, I'm on 5.5 weeks of radiotherapy and chemo. The radiotherapy is Mon-Fri and the chemo tablets are everyday, including weekends.
I just had my 12th radiotherapy session today and so far things are going really well and I feel fine. I have been warned though that that may change as the treatment progresses but at the moment I'm making the most of feeling good.
Hope all goes well for you.

Hi Rita,
So glad your treatment is going well for you and you feel well. Thankyou for answering my question it gives me more of an idea of what to expect.

Hi Songy
I too am on 25 days of chemo and radiotherapy but I get the weekends off. I am on day 10 and so far all is ok just feeling extra tired. First of all I saw an oncologist who explained everything about the chemo and radiotherapy and any side effects then a week later I got measured up for the radiotherapy then the treatment started the following week. There are numbers you can call 24hrs a day and the staff are always on hand for any questions.
Now I have started treatment I feel much more positive just trying to put the operation to the back of my mind
By far the worst bit for me so far was all the waiting from being diagnosed to the start of treatment so I really feel for you right now just hang on in there
Best of luck let me know how you get on
Peacock62
Hi Songy I echo what otters have said I’m not the patient but my husband is, he started same treatment and is just a few days ahead of Peacock62. He has just done day 16 of radiotherapy, unfortunately for him he got rare side effect of capecitabine and oncologist took him off it at day 14 of chemotherapy, oncologist is not worried that it will impact on treatment as he had 40% of chemo and she says the radiotherapy does 90% of the work. He is doing ok just more tired, good luck with your journey it’s very useful this forum I have found and a fantastic support network xx
