I'm on a two weekly chemo of FOLFOX, mop up chemo after surgery when all visible signs of cancer were removed but cells found in some lymph nodes. My last treatment was delayed a week due to low neutrophils. Treatment no. 4 went ahead after 3 weeks. After another 3 week break, I was supposed to have treatment no.5 last Tuesday, but yet again my neutrophils are too low, meaning it'll be 4 weeks before my next treatment, which will be decreased by 20 percent to see if that helps. I've had 6 self administered injections after treatment 3 and 4 to boost bone marrow, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Anyone else had this problem?
Hi Jersey Lili,
My husband's neutrophils droppped quite low at his 3rd Folfiri treatment, so his onc reduced irinotecan by 20% and it seemed to do the trick - levels were back to ok levels at the next blood test. Different situation but the 20% drop seemed to work... And didn't make too much of a difference on overal treatment efficacy, his CEA levels are still going down.
Good luck XXXXX
