So I finished all treatment in November. Everything is fine but I keep getting sore throats. Just been months of it, coming and going. I think part of it is due to when I’m tired, or stressed. I’m aware that my throat is my ‘thing’ that tells me to slow down or go to sleep! But this is getting annoying now! Plus this week I have had a tickly cough too. I feel fine otherwise, just tired due to too many late nights. I know it takes time to recover from chemo etc, but it’s five months now! Should I be concerned about my constant on/off sore throat and my cough? Or is it part and parcel of the long recovery period and I just need to give it time? I’m so aware of everything my body is doing and I keep looking up symptoms of different cancers!

CEA in March was 5, full blood count about two/three weeks ago is all normal (but now officially on the peri menopause; thank you radiotherapy for that!). I feel like I have a second home at my gp now!

Do i need to worry, or is this par for the course as an ex cancer patient? At what point do I say ok, this is more than just a sore throat, more than a ‘still recovering from chemo induced crappy immune system’ sore throat? Or am I just overthinking everything?

  • Hi Jmas ,

I got that with the peri menopause . It was an acid reflux issue that developed. A few of my friends have had it too . Has your GP explored that angle ? Just thinking yours might have been already irritated with chemo and impacted with the peri menopause. It has all but gone away but lasted for a while .

    Take care ,
