Hi all
I have a appointment with the surgeon this afternoon to find out what surgery I am going to have and when hopefully , really nervous as this is my second opinion and I am hoping he will say that we can do TAMIS rather than key hole (APR) , figures crossed
Robotic TME on the 10th May is the outcome , so glad I had a second opinion, margins are far better than what the first surgeon said , nothing is ever guaranteed but there is a good chance of re joining me , cancer is very low in the rectum and is 5cm in size , so hopefully I will wake up with a temporary bag after the surgery and (cancer free) which will be reversed after 3 months if all goes well , so glad I went to my GP and caught it early not all men would have done that
That’s fantastic news . So glad you got the outcome you were hoping for . Robotic surgery too !
You were very wise going to the Doctor . My mum did one of the very first Bowel screens in our area . Most of her friends would not do them . That test saved her life . You have advocated well for your own health all the way through this .
You can relax for a few weeks now .
Take care,

Thanks Court
yes relax I shall off to my place in cornwall by the lakes this week end , I trusted my instinct and when for the second opinion and was right to do so , I hope my journey so far as I am at the start will help someone who reads my profile
good luck

Have a wonderful weekend . Sounds good .
There is a group of silent readers on the forums too and you just never know who you might influence to act . My mum asked for a consultation with a specialist liver surgeon . Her oncologist at that time did not agree as she responded really well to chemo . The surgeon said there was a window of opportunity with the liver and was happy to proceed . At that point I started sharing the benefits of seeking out centres of excellence. I read a recent research article that said in stage 4 patients your prognosis can go up at least 30% if you get to them . However it is still not always happening . I shall continue to share and hope you do to .
Have a great time .

I have teenage sons and spend lots of time waiting as I taxi them around . Honestly it’s just five minutes here and there . There was a group of people here When I needed them most and we propped each other up . It was my lifeline .
After ten years I probably should go . Ha . But here I am as I feel it’s really important to let other stage 4 people know there is hope and windows of opportunity to pursue.
There is a great team of people who share their experiences of treatment and the forum would not exist without them . They have the knowledge and willing to share .
My mum has had the privilege of getting older because of clinicians wise decisions. She has a good team .
Hope your doing ok yourself .
