diagnosed with lower bowel cancer, for past few months been passing blood. I’ve been taking a herbal remedy and bleeding seems to have stopped. Is it normal for a bowel cancer to stop bleeding on its own or could this mean the herbal remedy has had a positive impact? Anyone else tried bosphelia theracuramine with any success?
Hi Ulla
Have you had conventional chemotherapy and/or treatment as well as the herbal treatment? I only bled once with my rectal cancer which made me consult a doctor and get diagnosed. I tried googling your herbal remedy and didn't get much other than a cactus family. Macmillan has some info on herbs as complimentary to conventional treatments but I am not aware of any proven herbal 'cures'. My oncologist advised caution and to check with her before I took herbal treatment as some of them interfere with the prescribed chemotherapy. I am sorry that I can't be any more helpful. Perhaps someone might be along later who has tried your treatment. Do you have a link to it?

Hi Nicky, have look at my case history. I am new to all this chatting on line being an old lady of 82!,
I am not yet on any medication for cancer for reasons connected to my previous illness. I am scared stiff with it all. But trying it out cannot do any harm?
i am grateful to anyone coming back to me.
Ulla
Welcome to online community although sorry you have had to reach out to us with your concerns.
I wouldn't like to give an opinion on your question but I do think you have made the correct decision by posting your question on the Ask a Nurse page and hopefully one of the nurses will be able to give you an answer to your question but I would ask you not to panic as the nurses can take up to two working days to come back to you but it maybe sooner.
You are very welcome to phone the telephone support number and ask to speak to a nurse they can be contacted on
0808 808 0000
Any day between 8 am and 8 pm.
In the meantime if you are still experiencing bleeding I would think about stopping the herbal mixture to see if it makes any difference.
If you do phone the nurse it would be a good idea to have the bottle in front of you so you can tell the nurse exactly what's in the bottle.
Hope you find a solution soon.
Regards
Ian
