There definitely is good results with treatments and getting better all the time I was diagnosed in August 2018 with rectal cancer that had spread through the wall of the rectum I had 5 yes 5 days of radiotherapy in October then had my rectum removed and the bowel rejoinder 28th Feb.I have a temporary ileostomy and got a call after mdt meeting last week to say no chemo needed so I'm thrilled.the waiting has been the hardest and the rollercoaster of emotions but the support and information that you get on this site is absolutely amazing. Keeping in touch on this site has helped so much. Thankagain to all of you great people

Hi Plymgirl
I have very low rectum cancer stage 1 T2N0MX , I waiting for my second opinion on surgery , did you have keyhole (APR) ?
I think I had transanal surgery at the same time as laparoscopic 4 little holes and a slightly bigger one low on my left side measuring just 8cm it's gobsmacking what they can do. Great idea to get fit I did the same and I think it helps, but seriously take it slowly after, your insides are sore after being rummaged around and it takes a few weeks.im 4 weeks post op and have no pain and am starting to walk a bit just slow and steady.Vanessa x
getting fit has had its problems my head thinks I am in my twenty but my body dosent agree , lucky for me I am involved in football and I see the physio a lot to keep my training , I keep being told how well I look , do you know what stage cancer you had ?, I feel that I have been lucky to catch it early and having the guts to go back to the GP who was very good and got me fast tracked , but then unlucky with it being so low that they might not be able to re-join me with a working sphincter , just waiting for Friday as that's when they are meeting to discuss my case and hoping for transanal surgery will be all I need
Hi I was diagnosed April 18 stage 2 I am 46 years old.
I had 5 days of radiotherapy then Apr surgery in August 18
I have perm stoma which I feel is a small price to pay for curative surgery.
Take little steps I am told bowel cancer is very treatable these days.
Wishing you well

Diagnosed Xmas ‘17, had a LAR end of Jan’18 - back at Anfield a month later. I’m a very reluctant runner- reluctant as in ‘absolutely detest’, but am ‘in training’ with Liverpool Recovery Runners for my second race in support of Cancer Research. I wish it had never happened but it was not as bad as my fears imagined. Keep on going - slow or slower, it doesn’t matter as long as it’s in the right direction.
Good luck
YNWA
Mike
