I’ve had lower back pain for the past month. The last few days I’ve had some tingling in my arms and legs so today I have e mailed our useless health centre.I have asked to speak to someone so fingers crossed I can talk to a dr.Has anyone else had spinal pain ? I’ve got arthritis in both hips so perhaps it’s in my spine.I’m hoping I can get an x Ray or a scan to see what’s going on.Love to you all Jane x

  • Hi Jane, definitely bring your abnormal blood and urine results to the attention of your specialist nurse. It's been worrying you for long enough now. You need a professional to reassure you. x Shame about the osteoarthritis but I'm afraid it is a pretty common condition among the over 50s in UK. Most important thing is to keep moving so muscles stay toned to help support the crunchy joints. It's quite hard to push oneself to be mobile when in pain but I'm afraid when it comes to arthritis it really is "use it or lose it".  I do a weekly pilates class which helps. Last ten years I've also had weekly a piano lesson to keep my poor old bent fingers mobile (along with my brain) I'm pretty rubbish at playing tunes but my teacher and I laugh a lot.  Sending you love. x

  • Glad to hear you are both fine.Love Jane x

  • Hi H,I was speaking to dad’s cousin earlier on the phone and saying how much I missed playing the piano. We had to get rid of ours shortly after mum became ill.I’m trying to keep as mobile as possible and doing gardening each day provided it’s not raining too heavily.I hope the specialist nurse can advise on the results. The gp was a bit clueless.Love Jane x

  • Never a free lunch eh Jane.  All the best to you xxx

  • Thanks Blanket.Hopefully I can get some clarification about the tests from the specialist nurse. My sister said she did a happy dance at work when she read it was arthritis.I’m going for breast screening next week, last year I had some abnormalities but the hospital said there was nothing concerning.Love Jane x

  • Hi,I’ve e mailed the health centre regarding my elevated Bence Jones protein levels and asked for some clarification.Love Jane xx

  • Hi,I had an e mail from the health centre this morning to offer me a gp phone appt next Tuesday.See whether I get any further forward.Love to you all Jane x

  • Wow. Ours don't deign to email us. Hope you finally get some answers, they so often do not give credit to patients for having a brain,

  • Hi Denby,This is the first time I have ever had an e Mail aside from appt reminders. They use the ‘ask my gp’ system. It says on their website that it is the patients responsibility for test results and follow up questions. My main question is why have I got urinary paraproteins linked to malignancy in my urine.Hope all is well with you and Mr D ? Love Jane x

  • We are Ok in ourselves but battle to get his sister's meds right 200 miles away is AWFUL. Just had a despairing email; from the fantastic next door neighbour,, she cannot cope with the chasing anymore so it is up to us to get the useless care agency to take over...and sister's dementia is worsening. Guilt or what, neighbour says she was better for weeks after we visited but it is such an undertaking. Min 2 nights living out of a bag in a travelodge or similar, 5 hour journey each way, at the moment Mr D is not back to driving because we paid £1700 for hand controls on the car he can't use so that's all down to me. and running around from accommodation to sister's and anywhere we take her out to.. thanks for reading my vent as I know with what you have been through with your dear Mum you will totally get it.
