Hi all hope all’s going well for everyone I was just wondering whether anyone on here after been diagnosed with none invasive bladder cancer has experienced this sort of pain ( really hard to describe) the only way I can describe it like tearing in the arms and near my wrists and a pain on the top of my foot sometimes in legs I will be speaking to my key worker tomorrow if I can contact her any advice appreciated. Cheers in advance Thumbsup

  • Hi Jghftm1, my OH is the patient and like you has had non-invasive bc. he has never described anything like this. I get pains in my legs if I do not take magnesium tablets to balance out the calcium supplements I have to take. However be sure to get pharmacy advice before starting any supplement yourself. Have you had a CT scan yet? If not worth mentioning to the scan team maybe. I am sure others will be along who are more help than me but didn't want to risk you sitting there thinking no one had seen your request. Best wishes, Denby

  • Thanks Denby yes had ct scan just seems odd that these pains have gradually got worse ( nothing major mind you but still a worry ) and I’ve always said everyone knows there own body better than any doctor, thanks for the quick response. All the best

  • You're welcome Jghftm1. You're on the nail about knowing your own body - or at least who to trust on it. We have a chiropractor who got a diagnosis right first time on me which the self-opinionated member of our GP practice denied -eventually I got her colleague to accept it and was cured by the meds I should have had in the first place. Sadly she did something very similar re my husband, and it was the bc nurses giving his Mitomycin who spotted the true problem; again another partner then gave the right meds. I will never see her again and the reception staff know it. So sad, because so much needless suffering for us and presumably for other patients. Hope you get some good answers and soon. Could be worth getting a chiropractor checkover if you can afford it, as it could be possible nerves could be pinched by tension in your back and cause limb pains. As well as pursue NHS answers.

    Hi Jghftm1,

Welcome to the group. You don’t say what stage you are at with your treatment and I’m wondering if it could be anxiety. I was diagnosed with non invasive bladder cancer in 2017. I have always been an anxious person and quite often this would manifest itself in various stomach problems and aches and pains. Thinking back to then and subsequent treatments I can remember being extremely anxious and developing physical symptoms then. As Denby has said it could be tension, our bodies do strange things when we are stressed.

Do ask your nurse for advice and certainly contact your doctor if it doesn’t improve; it may be nothing to do with the cancer.

    Best wishes Luce

  • Thanks again Denby and Luce  I will contacting the nurse tomorrow.Had my 1st bcg last Friday which went well no reaction at all so keeping everything crossed the others are the same Fingers crossed I was getting these pains before the treatment so want to find out what’s going on.All the best

  • JGftm1, I get leg pain if I don't drink enough water. My old (dated) GP prescribed Quinine tablets which are not recommended these days. The pharmacist at my new GP's practice stopped the prescription immediately and sent me a leaflet from "Patient" (search cramps in legs). It suggests a range of causes including Magnesium as Denby suggested. It also suggested dehydration and by trial and error I worked out that was my problem. I have to be particularly diligent at knocking back water if I intend to drink even a moderate amount of alcohol. Best wishes x

  • Thanks for that info  Herothedog I’ve tried again today to contact UNS but going to answer machine Iam going to email the consultants secretary to see if that gets them to get back to me feel bad because I know they’re busy but want this sorting. All the best
