As some will know diagnosed with bladder cancer 2022 and had with succeesful three years of bcg treatment with no reoccurances. Get to January 26, lymph node on groin swells, CT scan shows suspious for cancer and today was told diagnosis of metastic carcinoma of urothelial origin which I think is very serious, so in shock. Got appt next Friday at Guys after an MDT meeting where they will discuss the findings. Has anyone else every had this type diagnosis. Can anyone help???

  • Hi  . No personal experience but I can understand how worried you must be with something new showing up. The positive way to look at things is that it has been identified and your team are on the ball and will have a plan to deal with it. I hope all goes well. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Oh Bumblebee49 what a horrible shock that is to the system, it's totally understandable you are very frightened I think we all would be in the same boat in your shoes.

Again like Rily I can't offer any real words to help other than wishing you the most positive outcome as they hopefully deal with this, and it must be a terrible shock after 3 years of being clear for sure.

  • oh my dear BB, I wish I could take your fear away. Of course you are frightened and now having to wait to hear the next plan for treatment. I am sure you are still in shock when all had gone so well with the bcg. Like Rily says, they are on it and will have a plan to deal with it. please dont google and scare yourself with information that is likely to be wrong. Try and spend the next few days getting your head round needing some more treatment. Whatever it is , you will face it and get through it ,and we will be here to steady you through . You are a strong woman and we are here for you xx

    Much love Angela x

  • Thanks Rily yes I hope there is something that can be done. I am sure this will be a lot more difficult to deal with probably chemo or radiotherapy etc but I am sure they will do there best. Just feel like it was going so well, it's a big knock back.

  • Yes you are right a huge shock, I have felt so well over last three years I did not expect this. Thanks for your kind words Simon. I will hope and pray.

  • I know Angela, I have always felt positive as things have always gone so well so it's knocked me back big time. I will just have to see what they say and be guided by the team and hope I can get myself through this. I know already googled and wish that I hadn't. Stupid me.

Thanks for your support Angela, it's truly needed now. I wish you well too xxx

    Much love BB

  • darling BB, if you feel up to it ( I know that shock can leave you feeling a little mentally and physically frozen /stuck) , try to make a plan to do something each day that will keep you busy until your consultation. Then take one day at a time BB, Friday will soon come . Sending you my love . Keep in touch xx

    Much love Angela x

  • Hi Bumblebee49, sending support in dealing with rotten news after the BCG had appeared to keep you clear. xxx Unfortunately none of us can count on an all-clear future. I have a friend whose breast cancer has just returned as a secondary after 20 years. So we can all only take things one step at a time, and hope for the best. However there really are a range of treatments which can be offered even for more complex conditions. Maybe you could phone your CNS before then and share your very reasonable anxiety? In the meantime I hope you can distract yourself from the perfectly natural fears. I just watched Small Prophets, totally bonkers but quite good escapism. Obviously there'd be more than one cake appearing in my life if I was waiting for worrying information. Sending you loads of love Hx

  • What an awful shock for you - very understandable that you are scared. At least they seem to be moving quickly and hopefully will have a treatment plan ready for you. Just try to do pleasant activities and have some treats in the meantime. Very best wishes to you.

  • Hi BB,

I'm very sorry to read your post, must have been an shock after everything else you've been through already.

I can't offer any real advice or add to what others have said, but I wish you all the best.
