Hi all,
Has anyone else had their follow up postponed. I was diagnosed with non invasive cancer last feb and my follow up cystoscopy if in Feb 21. I was ok with that at first but now am getting really anxious. It's a year since I had a ruptured liver anyresm which ended up with me in ITU and then transferred to the liver unit which was how the cancer was detected on one of the scans i had. My urine cytology was negative last week. I'm just becoming more and more worried xx
Morning Saskia1, I guess that last Feb you had a TURBT to clear the tumour and were told what stage and grade the bladder cancer was? A year does seem a long time between screenings but perhaps there were good medical reasons. As you don't mention any treatment I'm imagining you had a really early stage and low grade cancer. My CNS told me that high grade cancers definitely show up in urine cytology so your negative result could give some reassurance. But another 3 months is a long time to worry so why not phone your team and tell them what you are feeling? Best wishes.
I agree with Herothedog. Contact your team and tell them how you are. And ask if they can tell you if there is a reason is for a year's wait. Then, if appropriate, ask if there is any way they can bring forward the cystoscopy.
Hope you enquiries prove positive; and keep in touch.
Gandulf.
